An integrative counseling approach takes into account that problems don't happen in a vacuum or a compartment of life. They happen to the whole YOU. The holistic approach is important, but often understated, in counseling. In fact, I don't think I could stress it enough. What you eat (or don't eat) and how much, when and how you move your body (or don't), and whether or not you are utilizing any of the many healing modalities that you could, and that are easily found in the Portland metro and surrounding areas - these can all be vital to consider in the process of improving mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
The counseling issues that are related to this may be:
- eating problems
- physical chronic pain
- chronic illness, especially auto-immune problems
- anxiety, or anything that repeatedly or chronically causes distress and worry
